Natural Rubber Crib Mattress

Made from natural rubber from the rubber
tree. This crib mattress is firmer than other natural
type mattresses. An ordinary crib mattress generally is composed of a
foam core with vinyl covering. Studies have shown that mice on this type
of mattress have a reduction of 26% of their airflow. This could be a
major factor in SIDS. Many studies have confirmed the link between SIDS
and chemicals but the crib industry is very large and keeps promoting
cheap synthetic mattresses. The natural rubber mattress replaces that
foam with natural rubber and the outer with organic cotton/wool outer
fabric for natural flame retardance, water resistance, bacterial

| Crib top mattress- similar to a mattress
pad but much thicker. Makes a great
topping to a bed or as a buffer between your body and a
conventional mattress/futon. Stuffed with fluffy, natural
wool or organic cotton and designed to fit under our
fitted sheets. Covered in 100% organic cotton fabric with a
natural cotton rubber elastic strap to secure it to the
mattress.

These mattress pads are a classic style, but
made with organic materials. Two
layers of thick, cozy,
organic flannel, quilted together. Natural rubber/cotton
elastic
straps sewn on each corner to secure it to lay flat on your mattress
or
futon. Finally, an organic pad to protect your organic investment
and it's
completely machine washable.

I am sometimes asked why I choose an organic futon mattress for my
baby's crib instead of the standard vinyl covered
mattress. I believe the
outgassing of chemical fumes
that occurs with standard mattresses
is detrimental to
an infant's health. A standard mattress is made
with
foam and covered in vinyl. You can smell the chemicals
yourself but even when your nose can no longer detect
the odor the
material continues to outgas toxic fumes
like many other household
products. Since the baby is
sleeping right on top of this surface she
inhales the
fumes directly. There have been studies that show a
possible link to SIDS from inhaling these fumes. Areas
in China
where babies sleep on cotton futons have no
incidence of SIDS.
It makes sense to me to have my
baby sleep on the purest surface
available.
